Mother and Baby Yoga

The mother and baby yoga class is a gentle flowing yoga class which is suitable for all new mothers. The class focuses on many postnatal concerns such as strengthening the pelvic floor and the back muscles, opening the shoulders and the chest, re-building core strength and focuses on postural alignment when lifting, feeding and carrying your baby.

The mother and baby yoga classes involve a lot of interaction between the new mum and her baby by using postures where the mother can interact and involve her baby in the yoga practice and it is a fun, safe and healthy way to get back into shape.

Mother and Baby yoga classes are a wonderful way for the new mum and the baby to create a bond and spend some special time together. The classes are also very good as new mums have the opportunity to meet other mums and share their valuable experiences.

Mother and baby yoga classes are informal and flexible and as we all know, new born babies are not always predictable so we are able to adjust the classes to meet the circumstances so that all mums feel comfortable and relaxed in all situations. All of our mother and baby yoga teachers are mothers and are very understanding of the different circumstances that may arise during the class.

When Can I Commence Mother and Baby Yoga Classes?

It is a good idea to wait for 4 - 6 weeks after the delivery of your baby before attending mother and baby yoga classes. If you had a caesarian section it is a good idea to wait for 8-10 weeks post-partum or when you are feeling the time is right for you. New mums are most welcome to join our classes at any time, and you do not need to wait for a new term to start.

Support

New mothers are most welcome to bring along family members or friends to give support at no additional cost. This is very helpful for new mothers who have given birth to twins. You are welcome to bring along your mum, dad, husband sister or brother or friend for additional support for these classes.

We welcome you and your baby to participate in these classes.
